Sara's Workshop 2: Edited Promo

Colour Composition

Colour 1080 from Meg Wright on Vimeo.

This first colour video was a way in which to get me used to using transitions in Adobe After Effects and then be able to apply it to the project below where i had drawn a ship from a birds eye view and had draw individual waves that were travelling upwards to give the impression that it was moving through the water.

John's Workshop 2: Full Alphabet

Our task for this part of the workshop was to create a full alphabet using our sketches as a base on which to create a working alphabet from my intial shapes and letterforms. Initially i was tasked to make three full alphabets however i spent much more time on my initial 2 because i did not want to rush my work. I would rather have quality work than rushed work where it is not as good as i want it to be. As a consequence i did not complete the task however i was able to use my type face and develop it further in the next workshop, adding colour and smoothing out the lines more with the added use of the Adobe Capture App which allowed me to capture a letter and smooth lines out, alowing for a much more fluid design and it also made it easier to change the colours of the letters because i had put black lines and no parts that were floating away so i did not have to zoom in and do one pixel at a time.

Reference Images for the first task.

The images above were my first sketches forthe task that was set for us in this first workshop which was to use referenced (at the top) images to transcribe the shapes to make letter forms/typographic character with either upper or lower case.

Sara's Workshop 1: The Screen - Design and Motion

Main Comp - Mask VIMEO from Meg Wright on Vimeo.

This was the first workshop that i did at the University of Huddersfield. The aim of the session was to become familar with Adobe After Effects (After Effects) and be able to use the basic function to a degree that it wouldn't be any trouble for us in the future if we were to use it in any other project. This class led on to me being able to useAfter Effects with a confidence that i didn't have before, and as a consequence my work has improved greatly with several project that have been more complicated leading on form this point. E.g. In the third workshop with Sarah (https://wrightmuguette.blogspot.co.uk/2017/11/sarah-nesteruk-workshop-thursday-23rd.html) we were learning how to move object on a path across the viewing screen utilising the stopwatch function and key frames in order to have movement of a shape (in this case a stickman).

John's Workshop 5: Richard Hamilton

In this workshop, we had to create a similar, more modern piece that took inspiration from the above piece of art by Richard Hamilton...
